Now that winter is well and truly upon us and the nights continue to draw in most people want to close the door, draw the curtains and keep warm, but many of us are trying to save on household energy use and so are using the heating infrequently or not at all so how can we get that cosy feel without breaking the bank or stacking up huge bills?
The sale of heated throws and blankets has soared recently as people realise that it is more efficient to heat the person rather than the room. The temperature of these heated blankets can be set so that they are as warm as the user requires and can quickly bring warmth and comfort. They are especially useful for the elderly who may not be able to move around enough to keep themselves warm in winter.
A room can be made to feel warmer by the décor so that having fluffy rugs, cushions and throws can give the appearance of warmth. Lit candles can also bring a cosy glow to a room as can aroma therapy lamps which smell lovely too.
If you do have your heating controlled by a thermostat it is a good idea to set the heating to come on for an hour or two in the evening as this may be enough to boost the warmth in the room and help you to feel cosy and warm.
