Wood burners are an attractive alternative to central heating and other forms of heating and they can be very practical too. However they do take up more storage than other forms of heating, simply because the logs need to be stored somewhere. This place will need to be dry so that the logs will still burn well – the best firewood always comes seasoned.
Logs can be stored in a garage or outhouse, where there is space for more logs than there would be inside the home. Some logs can also be stored indoors, and log burners might have some specialist storage built in. There might be storage shelves and recesses custom built alongside the fireplace, which are as attractive as they are practical. These will not hold enough logs for the wood burner in the long term though, so practical log storage will need to be carefully considered before getting a log burner too.
