If you rent your home then you may not want to spend money on redecorating but if you intend on staying there a while it may be worth the investment.
Some landlords will not allow you to decorate the property, instead they will decorate it every few years. This can be hard if you are not happy with the décor as you are the ones that have to live with it day in day out. Most landlords will allow you to decorate the property as long as you do not make any changes that cannot be put back and as long as you don’t do anything too drastic, i.e. painting all the walls black!
There are plenty of small changes you can make to your home that don’t have to cost the earth but that make a big difference. For example, changing the flooring in the hall may cost less than £100 but can really brighten up the entrance and give the hall a fresh feeling. If you are not able to change cupboard doors in the kitchen then you may be able to paint them. Always get permission before making any changes as if you have not had consent you could find yourself liable for costs or even breaking the terms of your tenancy.
